Domaine des Roy - A passion, a story

The Roy family history is intimately related to wine for several generations. My great-grandfather was a winegrower and a cooper, my grandfather was a winegrower and a wine broker. Naturally, my father carried on the family vineyard.

In the seventies, aware of the link between the quality of the grapes and the quality of the wine, he chose to work the soil, reduce treatment, and limit harvest yields.

When I was 18 years old, I realized that the work of winemaking was captivating and decided to start studying viticulture. I obtained a vocational degree in viticulture-oenology in the Muscadet region in 2000 and an oenologist diploma in Bordeaux in 2002.

I took over the family vineyard in 2005. I decided to build upon my father's respect for nature by converting the vineyard to organic farming practices.

We produce wine as naturally as possible with a rigorous and steady follow-up of their quality.

In 2006, this fascinating job also attracted my partner Yohann, who joined me to work on the estate. Yohann is also a son and grandson of Angevin winegrowers, having been familiar with vine growing since childhood.

After earning a vocational degree in viticulture and oenology, he worked for 6 years as a viticultural technician in the Loire Valley. While he enjoyed supporting winegrowers, becoming a winegrower himself was his dream.
